Province of BC, BC Firestorm 2003 Provincial Review

As a result of 2,500 wildfires destroying over 334 homes and many businesses, with an estimated cost of over $700 million, the review was established by the provincial government to supply recommendations across all levels of government: federal, provincial, municipal and regional.

Maddess Consulting Services was hired to review and analyze data, testimony, and government actions in the areas of Command and Control, Emergency Planning, Post Incident Recovery and Evacuation.

All recommendations supplied by Maddess Consulting Service to the final review report were subsequently adopted by the Province of British Columbia.

As a result of difficulties that the 5,000 student Fire & Safety Division was experiencing, Maddess Consulting Services was retained in the Directors role to manage and direct the 30 full time and 200 part time employees toward a more effective delivery system.

Success was achieved in the areas of:

• ProBoard and IFSAC re-accreditation;
• the first fire bachelor degree in Canada;
• joint college, oil & gas and transportation sector training agreements;
• Quality Service improvements to the student to Institute communication system;
• instituted a Strategic Planning and Action planning system;
• increased International course and student deliveries.

As a result of a number of initiatives toward improving the pre-hospital emergency medical system, Maddess Consulting Services Inc. was hired to provide input into the education, training and scopes of practice of all pre-hospital emergency practitioners.

Assisted in managing a team charged with integrating the graduating college students into an English university. Appointed as Quality Control Officer responsible for courses meeting the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education standards as well as delivering a program meeting NFPA & IFSAC standards.

City of Penticton Fire Department, Penticton, BC

As a result of the Fire Insurance industry’s Fire Underwriters Survey, Maddess Consulting was chosen to review, audit and analyze its findings toward supplying independent opinion, advice and recommendations that would meet current standards and legislation.

Coordination consultant in a multi-million dollar capital campaign to augment government funding through private sector involvement.

City of Regina, Regina, SK,

As a result of a dispute between a Regional District and the City of Regina as to the actions of the Regina Fire Department, Maddess Consulting Services was retained to provide expert opinion. Analysis provided led to a successful conclusion for the city.

In addition to scheduling, planning and negotiating the successful annual delivery of Fire Officer 1,2,3 & 4, to their employees in Canada, negotiated, scheduled and instituted a Fire Officer 1 & 2 delivery system at Saudi Aramco facilities in Saudi Arabia
