Maddess Consulting Services Inc., a fire emergency management and education specialist, was formed in 1998 to transition its president, Glen Maddess from the active role as a Metropolitan Fire Chief (City of Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services) to a Consultant in Emergency Fire/Medical Services, Government Policy Implementation and Fire Education & Training Services.
With over 30 years of active fire and emergency experience, together with a Masters of Science Degree, Emergency Health Services and a Bachelor of Science Degree, Advanced Fire Administration, Maddess Consulting provides a unique skill set in providing expertise to emergency response personnel (firefighters, paramedics, emergency executive management), local and provincial levels of government in planning and policy areas and to corporations. In addition to a 3-year contract reorganizing British Columbia’s Firefighter training and education as Director of the Fire & Safety Division of the Justice Institute of BC., Glen Maddess has managed, as well as delivered, a wide range of Fire, Emergency Medical and Emergency Management Education and Training programs on three continents. This has included establishing Internationally certified Fire Officer 1 and 2 programs within Saudi Arabia, implementing a Quality Management program ensuring a Middle East college would meet a UK University’s standard’s as well as designing and delivery of training in Africa and Asia.
Extensive background in all areas of training, education, operations and administration areas of expertise include:
- the cost beneficial amalgamation of two fire departments,
- establishing an accountable emergency medical service,
- implementing Canada’s first fire specific Bachelor Degree
- implementing and establishing new computer dispatch and record management information communication system,
- ProBoard and IFSAC certification,
- Establishing major and secondary fire training sites,
- developing several major training academies,
- emergency exercise design,
- implementing a ULC approved fire, intruder alarm and security monitoring system,
- developing effective work expectation personnel management systems,
- critical incident stress debriefing system and
- equal employment out reach program and light duty program.
